Is chiropractic care safe?
Chiropractic care is one of the safest forms of health care available. In fact you have a greater risk of injury/complication by taking one Tylenol than you do from receiving a Chiropractic adjustment.
All clients receive a comprehensive exam including a full neurological, muscular, skeletal and functional assessment. If Chiropractic care is not appropriate for your condition, proper referral will be recommended.
Does my insurance cover chiropractic care?
EVERY insurance policy is different. Most insurance policies cover (or help cover) Chiropractic care. We will verify your benefits and submit claims when warranted. Most insurance plans do not cover supplements, herbs and other products. Payment for these items is your responsibilty and due at the time of purchase.
Some employers understand that insurance companies do not satisfy everyone's needs. Therefore companies offer 'flex' plans to accommodate individual needs. Ask your employer if they offer a 'flex' spending program or a cash program (i.e. for contacts, chiropractic care, braces or orthotics, pillows, etc.)
How many times do I have to come in?
If you are a Chiropractic candidate, we work with you to develop an individualized treatment plan to resolve your condition and guide you to optimum health. We take time to educate you on your condition during the initial visits to support you in being proactive in your health.
Who should see a chiropractor?
We believe everyone should be seeing a chiropractor. Similar to going to your dentist or changing the oil in your car, wellness check ups are beneficial. We demand a lot from our bodies on a daily basis. It is important that they are working properly and our nervous system is free from irritation.
Do chiropractors only treat back pain?
Chiropractors treat much more than just backs. We also treat extremities (ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, wrists, etc.). Some other conditions we can help with are; high blood pressure, constipation, immune function, sinus problems, digestion, heart burn, dizziness, fatigue, etc.
We are trained to as primary health care providers. Much like your medical doctor.
Here is and example: Your complaint is heartburn. Heartburn is caused from stomach acid leaking outside of the stomach where it is NOT suppose to be. Why is your stomach 'leaking acid'? Chiropractors look for irritation on the nerves that control the stomach. If there is a problem here (typically this area is 'between the shoulder blades') we will adjust those misaligned joints and remove the irritation from these nerves and allow your stomach to function properly. This will also get rid of you pain between your shoulder blades! If your specific condition is not suitable for chiropractic care, proper referral will be made.
Does it hurt to get adjusted?
Adjustments are NOT supposed to hurt. The chiropractors at Lake Pointe Chiropractic & Wellness utilize many different techniques. Through our experience and knowledge, we can use the best technique for your situation.
What's that popping / cracking sound?
The sound you typically hear when you get adjusted is actually gas/pressure being released from the joints. It is NOT your bones cracking! It is much like opening up a fresh pack of tennis balls.
What is our education?
The Chiropractors at Lake Pointe Chiropractic & Wellness all have Bachelor degrees in Science. The Doctor of Chiropractic curriculum consists of 5 academic years made up of courses in basic science, chiropractic science, clinical science, and clinical experience. Additional information can be found at Northwestern College of Chiropractic.
What should I expect?
Most people start to see improvements after their first visit. This is much like working out. You won't see lots of improvements with one work out. You work out more initially until you reach your goals. Then you minimize your workouts and maintain your new self. This is why we recommend a three-day trial treatment with people whom are suitable for chiropractic care. We can start to make a change in those first three visits and create a plan specific for you.
Majority of our clients feel better right away due to all of the services offered at Lake Pointe Chiropractic & Wellness. They also describe having more energy, and a stronger immune system. This allows our clients to live the life they have wanted. Its amazing how good you can feel if you choose not to 'live with your pain'. Occasionally people may experience muscle soreness after their first treatment. This is due to your muscles working after they have not been working for a long time.
